Day 1. Komodo Airport, Labuan bajo – Port of Labuan Bajo – Bidadari island – Kelor island – Rinca island traditional village – Mangroves at sea
You will be picked up from Komodo Airport by our professional tour guide and driver and will be taken directly to the boat at the port of Labuan bajo. Before embarking we stop by a supermarket for you to buy necessities for on the boat. The first stop is on Bidadari island, meaning ‘angel island’. Bidadari island definitely lives up to its name with its soft white beaches surrounded by green vegetation. A great place for snorkeling and relaxing on the white sandy beach.
You proceed the tour to Kelor island. Here you will be snorkeling, relaxing on the white sandy beach and do a short trekking to see a panoramic view. After that, your tour guide shows you around the traditional fishermen village of Rinca island. You will visit the local school and their enthusiastic students and mingle with the local people. Your tour guide will be a useful translator here! Sometimes you can see the Komodo dragons enter the village to attack domestic animals. Lastly, your boat will sail you to a mangrove island in the middle of the ocean where flying foxes rest during the daytime. As the sun sets, enjoy the views from the boat while the thousands of fruit bats flying out from the mangrove: a spectacular view.
Day 2. Rinca island – Loh buaya – Padar island – Long beach
After a small breakfast, prepare yourself for trekking in Loh Buaya in Rinca island to observe the Varanus Komodoensis or Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Here, on Komodo Island and Rinca Island, exists the last place in the world where Komodo dragons still live in the wild. A national park ranger will accompany you during the trekking. After the trekking you’ll return to your boat to have a full breakfast while sailing to Padar Island: This is one of the most beautiful islands of Komodo National Park. Here you will do the trekking to the top of Padar island. The climb of about 30 minutes is well worth it: from here you have a unique view over the many coastlines with its white beaches and the typical landscape of Komodo. After this, the trip continues to Long Beach, a beautiful pink sandy beach due to red coral beds surrounding the island. Off the coast of Long Beach snorkelers can indulge in the colorful coral reef. A true paradise!
Your captain will anchor the boat in a calm place to stay overnight.
Day 3. Komodo island – Loh liang – Karang makasar – Siaba besar – Labuan bajo
After breakfast you will visit Loh liang to see the Komodo dragons located in Komodo island. A certified ranger will explain all about the environment and behavior of the komodo dragons.
After this, you continue your trip to Karang makasar: a tiny sandbank where you can do snorkeling with manta-rays. These majestic sea creatures are, although they look quite big and impressive, very friendly. Keep your distance and enjoy this impressive moment.
Today you will also visit Siaba besar island. The local people call this place ‘turtle city’ because there are so many green turtles chilling in this spot. This reef is home to many sea turtles and colorful fish. Such a wonderful experience to swim along the turtles while admiring the healthy coral reef.
Your tour guide knows the stream of the currents and will show you around. Please take your time to enjoy this beautiful spot.
In the late afternoon your boat will sail you back to the harbor of Labuan bajo. Your driver will transfer you to your hotel in Labuan bajo.
Day 4. Labuan bajo – Goa batu cermin – Goa rangko – Bukit cinta – Labuan bajo
After breakfast in your hotel, your tour guide and driver pick you up to visit Gua batu cermin, which takes only 15 minutes away from Labuan bajo. This impressive mirror stone cave in the mountainous landscape of West Manggarai is best to visit between 12.30 to 14pm. During this time the sunlight enters the cave in a way that brightens the mirror stones in a magical way. Also, inside the cave you can find fossils of ancient turtles and fish.
After this, you continue the day trip 30 minutes by car to a small fishing port from where you will sail in 15 minutes to Goa Rangko by wooden boat. You will arrive at a soft white sandy beach. After a short walk you will reach this wondrous cave adorned by stalactites, stalagmites and clear blue water. You can swim and relax here. Before the sun sets, it’s time to head back to admire the sunset from Bukit cinta, one of Labuan Bajo’s local sunset spots. After this you will be dropped at your hotel.
If you wish to fly back this afternoon or evening, the itinerary can be shortened so you have enough time to make it to Komodo Airport.
