Go Fair with Go Indo!
The Happy Bee is an educational initiative founded by the team behind Go Indo, located in Ruteng, Flores. This initiative aims to support children between the ages of 6 and 12 who reside in the villages of Nekang, Kedutul, and Ntala, three villages in Ruteng by providing free classes at the local communal house. We are proud to share that 5% of Go Indo’s income is donated to The Happy Bee by providing school materials and volunteering the classes. We hope to enhance this project in the future by expanding the educators, renovating the communal house, and offering high-quality educational materials. If you are visiting Ruteng, we welcome volunteers to join our lessons!
Indonesia’s Low Education Ranking: A Challenge for Change
Indonesia faces significant educational challenges, as highlighted by the 2018 global secondary education survey published by PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) in 2019. Ranked 74th out of 79 countries, Indonesia is among the lowest-performing countries in terms of education quality (Ansori, 2021). This stark reality further motivates Go Indo to make meaningful contributions to the field of education.
Learning is fun at the Happy Bee
We focus on teaching English, which is key for the kids’ future, especially since tourism offers great job opportunities. But it’s not just about English – they learn through play, taking part in activities, workshops, and classes that help build self-esteem, creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Our goal is to give them a safe space to learn not only about their own amazing roots but also about the world around them.
